Sub-plotting is an exciting new multi-media visual arts project, game and exhibition that uses mobile phone technology to create storyboards based around a theme. The project is being run in partnership between Mid Pennine Arts, Burnley Youth Theatre, Folly and artists Sarah Eyre, Ra Page and Deyan Raykov.
Sub-plotting is a visual game of Chinese Whispers that anyone with access to a mobile phone camera facility can join. Signing up to the game is easy – simply text BITMAP WEB to 60300 (each text cost 50p). Once signed up, every player becomes an artist as they race against the clock to respond to an image sent direct to their phone. The player has just three hours to take a photograph in response to the picture they were sent - thereby continuing the visual story. The new photograph will then be sent to another player, and so on and so on………
All photographs are anonymous, what connects them is the theme chosen when signing up to the game - this might be horror, romance, sci-fi or action! As the number of players grows, the photographs will be downloaded and exhibited in Mid Pennine Gallery and Burnley Youth Theatre. The exhibition will evolve as the Sub-plotting word spreads and more images are submitted.
The images will also be available to view at www.subplotting.com where there is an opportunity to leave messages for other players on the online forum.
Anyone wanting to find out more about the Sub-plotting project, terms and conditions can visit www.subplotting.com
Sub-plotting is funded by Mediabox and the Arts Council.
