Hide & Seek Rivers Exhibition

Stephen Johnson - The Weir at Bluebell Wood - 'People's Choice' Winner

We had a great day in Burnley town centre on Saturday 12 October.  Taking over the bandstand to hang the 34 shortlisted entrants in the Hide & Seek Rivers photographic competition (you can view them all on the right); Urban Canvas creating, with the help of the public, a giant chalk river and the chance to talk to hundreds of people about Burnley's rivers and the scheme to improve them.

Over 250 visitors helped us select the 'People's Choice' award, as they voted for their favourite photograph.  The winner of this and the other two categories in the competition: 'Good' aspect of the river and 'Bad' aspect of the river plus the runners' up can be found below.

Despite the slightly miserable weather more than 100 people, young and old, joined in to help create the giant chalk river, complete with fish and other wildlife, there were even a couple of swimmers in there!  See the wonderful Flickr set created by Urban Canvas of the river being created.

WATCH THE DOCUMENTARY FILM by Huckleberry Films of the day.
