Since Mid Pennine Arts began in 1966, individuals, groups and companies have supported the work we do. We began as a members’ association and the members contribution was invaluable as were their other forms of support, such as advocating on our behalf and even rolling their sleeves up and volunteering to help when the projects need extra hands.
Although we are now a charitable limited company the ethos of involving the wider community is still part of what makes Mid Pennine Arts special. As a charity we need to raise funds for all the wonderful work we do and the contribution our Friends make is invaluable. As in the past we still need our Friends to spread the good word and occasionally pitch in and help on projects, although that is completely optional!
Looking around our website you can see the we are working hard to meet our mission of bringing art, people and places together to transform perceptions and change lives. We believe in the transformative power of art and even though we work in some of the poorest communities in the UK, we always strive to deliver ambitious but accessible work.
Joining the Friends means that you can be part of that ambition and help to support MPA in our continued effort to encourage, develop and promote the arts in Lancashire.
