Atarah Ben-Tovim at MPA
Back in 1975 the internationally renowned British flautist, Atarah Ben-Tovim, accepted a part time post as the first Music Fellow of MPA. A teenage prodigy, appearing at the Albert Hall aged 14, she had also been the Principal Flautist of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic for 12 years. When she joined MPA she and the Director agreed that they needed to do more than present musical events, and that the area needed a core of musicianship which could only be provided by the creation of an ensemble.
